Education Space

Centrally managed rooms, such as the Babbage, Mill Lane and Lady Mitchell lecture theatres and meeting rooms in Mill Lane and the Old Schools, are being migrated to a new room booking system from Monday 29 July. Micad will no longer be used to book these rooms.

Any bookings already made in Micad will be automatically transferred to the new system, Booker, and users will be able to see and manage them in the new system after the switchover.

Booker is a user-friendly, quick and robust cloud-based service that has been designed for the University. To find out more about Booker, visit www.uis.cam.ac.uk/room-booking.

Catherine Fage, Head of Student Operations, said: “As a purpose-designed system for the University, Booker is ideal for managing these heavily-used rooms. It is much more intuitive to use than Micad, and the comprehensive visual information it provides about each room makes it easier for people to see at a glance what facilities are available. In addition to the centrally managed spaces there are also over 70 departmental rooms available for general use through Booker, which makes the system an extremely useful tool to help people across the University discover new rooms and find the right space for their needs.”

If you don’t already have a Booker account, please contact roombookingsystem@uis.cam.ac.uk to request one. This can be set up in advance of the switchover date. You can find tips on how to use Booker on the help site: https://help.uis.cam.ac.uk/booker-user-guide.
